In March 2009, the world premiere of the new model of the company took place in Geneva, and already in May of the same year the model was launched into serial production.
The combining unique design, functionality, comfort and safety of the car was created using the Volkswagen A5 platform (PQ35 version). The closest to the novelty in terms of its parameters can be highlighted, perhaps, “Skoda Octavia Scout”, compared to which “Yeti” has an increased clearance increased to 180 mm. Relatively small dimensions of the crossover provide easy control and high maneuverability in urban driving conditions.
The developers of the body design well coped with their task, the result of their work was the original appearance of the car, inspiring a sense of confidence in it. This is facilitated by raised roof lines and carefully drawn contours of the middle and rear body racks. When looking at the car in front, attention involuntarily dwells on a massive bumper and a radiator grille made in the same style, which is logically completed by four headlights.
The spacious five -seater interior of the crossover is developed taking into account the requirements of maximum functionality and is made in a restrained style. The dashboard provides a high level of comfort for the driver. The same goal is pursued by numerous convenient places for storing various trifles of the place. The driver’s seat, as well as places for passengers, provides for lateral support and the ability to adjust the back in accordance with the needs of a person, this becomes especially tangible during long trips. The back of the rear row can be folded both at once and separately, this allows you to transform the internal space of the car, consistent with the needs. Thus, the maximum volume of the luggage compartment can be about 1760 liters.
Buyers of the new model are given the opportunity to choose an engine from several options: sixteen -valve turbocharged gasoline engines TSI, having a volume of 1.2 and 1.8 liters (105 and 152 liters.With. respectively) and TDI diesel with a working volume of 2 liters equipped with a turbine. On the base version, a gasoline 1.2 liter motor is installed. The gearbox can be selected by a manual six -speed or robotic “DSG” with the number of gears 6 or 7.
Safety of people in the cabin is ensured by airbags, the number of which, depending on the configuration, can reach nine. This number includes: a pillow in the area of driver’s knees and airbags for passengers located on the rear seats. In addition, special fasteners of power plant and pedals are provided to reduce injuries. Electronic safety equipment is represented by ASR, ABS, DSR, HBA, MSR, and others. “Yeti” received five stars from the EURO NCAP agency, conducting car crash tests, thereby confirming its reputation as a safe car.
