Driving safety and comfort on the car, largely depends on the state of the front suspension. Telescopic racks perform one of the main tasks of the suspension – maintain stability when moving the car and extinguish vibrations transmitted from wheels to the body.
The main signs of a malfunction of the vehicles of the VAZ 2109 are: knocks (holes) when the car moves on bumps, the creak occurs at the beginning of movement or stop, the flow of hydraulic fluid from the shock absorber of the rack. Restoration of a faulty rack, an extra waste of money – it will not be enough for a long service life. Therefore, a faulty rack, it is better to replace the new.
First of all, before repair, the car should be washed from dirt and installed in a parking box. As an ideal option – installing a car on a 2 -step lift. In our case, the rack will be replaced with the “floor”. To do this, we need the next tool and devices:

3. Pickle for extinguishing steering and ball fingers

6. Stop under the body.
7. Cylinder key and percussion tool.We set the car, observing safety measures – the parking brake, the anti -traffic stops on both sides of the rear wheel.
Weaken the wheel mount nut on the front axis.
Install the jack and raise the front part of the car, set an emphasis under the body and remove the front wheel.
Open the front hood and fix it in open state.
On the rack we remove the protective cover of the support bearing.
Weaken the nut of the shock absorber .
Using a 13 -folded key on 13, weaken the rack fasteners to the car body.
Preliminary work in the engine compartment is performed, go to work at the bottom of the car.
Using the puller, disconnect the finger of the steering tip from the rack, having previously unscrewing the nut.
Unscrew the threaded bolts of the rack with a swivel fist.
Difficulties may arise with bolts,. One bolt is an eccentric and serves as a regulatory element of the collapse of the wheel. Therefore, it is better to stock up on a new set of bolts. And cut these with a grinder. In cases where there are no problems with turning the bolts, it is first necessary to make tags on the eccentric and racks bolt – in order to install a new rack, maintain the collapse angle.
Free the brake hoses, taking them out of the brackets installed on the rack.
Unscrew the tag nuts on top.
Taking aside the rotary fist, pull the rack through the wheel arch.
Next, it is necessary to remove the supporting bearing, for this we compress the spring and unscrew the nut of the bearing to the rod to the rod. After that, remove the bearing and spring. The stand is freed. Take a new rack and perform assembly operations, in the reverse order. The only thing must be remembered that when replacing the eccentric bolt, it is necessary to adjust the collapse of the wheel.
