  • March 21, 2019

A fireplace is a heating device that is very similar to a Russian stove. The fireplace came to us from Europe, where it was invented in the 14th century. This “stove” performs not only a heating function, but is also an undoubted decoration of the room.

Types of fireplaces

Depending on the method of placing the fireplace in the space, they distinguish:

Built -in fireplaces – the furnace part of such fireplaces is built into the wall already in the process of erecting a house

Corner fireplaces – are located in the corner of the room, usually perform a decorative function

Washed fireplaces – most of these fireplaces are hidden by an additional wall

Separately standing fireplaces – such fireplaces are built in the center of the room

In the appearance of the combined part of the fireplace, there are open and closed. The second type of fireplace has a large efficiency. Moreover, at the moment there is an opportunity to make a door made of glass, therefore the view of the fireplace does not suffer.

Framines are also divided into species in the number of radiating surfaces, which can be 1, 2 or 3.

By purpose, fireplaces are:

For heating water

For cooking

For heating the room

There is a version of a fireplace stove that has two firegies. Such a fireplace has the functions of both the furnace and the fireplace at the same time. It retains heat better and heats the room.

Undoubtedly, fireplaces are also divided into different types in the method of their design, style and decoration options.

DIY fireplace

You can build a fireplace on your own, while possessing some knowledge and skills in construction. But before starting to create a fireplace, it is necessary to remember some basic rules for its placement in space:

A spacious room is suitable for the fireplace, with an area of at least 20 square meters, so that there is enough air for combustion of fuel in it

It is desirable that there are no drafts that can cause interruptions in traction and the appearance of smoke in the room

The best location may be the internal supporting wall. In this case, you can save the area and maintain heat longer

On the sides of the fireplace should remain about a meter of free space

When placing a fireplace in the center of the room, Monom achieve maximum heat transfer and evenly heating of the room, but at the same time a useful area suffers

For the construction of the fireplace, the main materials are bricks and solution.

For the inside of the fireplace, where the brick is in contact with fire, fireproof brick is used. For the outer part, you can apply red clay brick.

The solution should consist of sand and clay, its consistency should be homogeneous, without lump. A cement mortar for building a fireplace is not suitable.

First of all, for the fireplace, you need to prepare the base and order (masonry scheme). In this case, the base for the fireplace should be independent of the base of the house. The order is necessary to correctly calculate the amount of materials and correctly perform masonry.

The basement is put “on the rib”, and the subsequent ones are flat. Before laying, the brick must be soaked for 2-3 minutes.

And, of course, you need to take care of the external decoration in advance. You can leave a fireplace without cladding. In this case, it is necessary to choose a brick of the correct shape and put it evenly. You can also finish the fireplace with tiles or artificial stone. In any case, the fireplace will be an excellent decoration of the house and will allow you to gather around it a large company cozy evenings.
